Laurence G. Ayer, P.E.
Mr. Ayer is a professional engineer by examination, and has over 38 years of safety, workers compensation, environmental protection and risk management experience. He is a graduate of The University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in mechanical engineering, as well as the Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Levenworth, Kansas.
He has over 38 years experience with five different divisions of the General Electric, Co., retiring in 2001. His experience includes environmental engineering, safety engineering, and facilities management, as well as environment, health and safety management. His last job with General Electric was group Safety Manager, responsible for all aspects of employee and facility safety at 63 manufacturing facilities and 12 distribution centers located in the United States as well as 9 foreign countries.
He has extensive experience in the various safety areas including: safety management systems, hazard analysis, OSHA compliance, employee involvement, accident investigation, health and safety training, health and safety inspections, personal protective equipment, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, fire prevention, job safety awareness, ergonomics, motor vehicle safety, lockout/tagout, as well as the OSHA voluntary program VPP.
He is active as a speaker and writer, and has spoken on the local, state, national and international level.
Mr. Ayer is also a retired military officer, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. His various military assignments included: safety, environmental protection training and facilities management.
